The ASQ Vancouver Section awards an annual scholarship to the BCIT student in the Business Operations Management program. The student is selected based on all-round achievement in his or her final two terms. The award winners are those who have exemplified continuous improvement excellence in their school work, personal lives, and through community involvement.
First introduced as a $500 scholarship in 2005, the award’s value was increased to $750 as of 2007.
After a recipient is selected, the student receives the scholarship cheque from a representative of the chapter at an awards ceremony held annually in June at BCIT.
The QBE award was developed by the Section Leadership Team of ASQ Vancouver in 2014 to highlight companies operating within British Columbia that advance the ideal of Quality being the differentiator in good business practices. The award is based on four key areas: Quality Focus, Customer Focus, Education Focus and overall Business Excellence. Companies in BC were encouraged to submit an application outlining how their company excels in these areas. The submissions were then judged by a panel consisting of business leaders and quality management professionals.
