If you hold an ASQ certification you must recertify every 3 years to maintain your certification as active, with the following exceptions:

CQT – Certified Quality Technician
CQI – Certified Quality Inspector
CQIA – Certified Quality Improvement Associate
CQPA – Certified Quality Process Analyst
CSSGB – Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
CSSYB – Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt

How to Recertify

You may recertify in one of two ways:

  • Obtaining a minimum of 18 recertification units (RUs) during the 3 years following your certification/last recertification, or
  • Re-sit the exam.

You have a 6-month grace period to obtain and submit RUs. If more than 6 months have passed since your certification expired, you MUST re-sit the exam in order to re-certify.

RUs can be earned through a number of activities (click here to see the list) and should be tracked using a Recertification Journal. You may keep a paper journal to submit through the offline process outlined below or an online journal which you may submit electronically through your account at asq.org. Remember to have your supporting documentation ready when submitting an application to recertify, whether online or offline.

A paper Recertification Journal may also be obtained on request from the ASQ headquarters in Milwaukee.

Submitting Your Application to Recertify

Submitting online:

Log in to your account at asq.org and log your RUs in the online Recertification Journal. Once you have logged all the RUs you plan to claim, click on “Recertify Now” and follow the instructions.

Submitting offline:

We are currently unable to process offline applications. Please complete and submit your re-certification journal through your account at asq.org.

Fees:

For 1 certification: $69 for members, $109 for non-members
For 2 or more certifications: $89 (total) for members, $109 (each certification) for non-members
